Grand Hotel Alassio celebrates Art with two new Suite, temples of relax and wellbeing

Grand Hotel Alassio inaugurates its new Hemingway Suite, dedicated to the celebrated author, one of the most influential among 20th-century novelists. Hemingway visited Alassio for the first time in 1918, in a postwar moment: in his novel “Farewell to Arms”, he describes the town as a picturesque place and a recovery base for wounded soldiers, too. Then he came back to Alassio in 1924 with his wife Hadley and his son Jack: the family used to stay in a villa overlooking the sea, nowadays known as Villa Hemingway. The bay view inspired Hemingway the creation of some of his most famous works, such as “Fiesta” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. While staying in Alassio, Hemingway also made friends with some of the locals, among which Giuseppe Cipriani, owner of Harry’s Bar, defined by the novelist as “his favorite bar on Earth”. The proof of his passage is also featured in the famous “Muretto di Alassio”: an autographed tile, among the signatures of other celebrities who, like Hemingway, loved the Riviera delle Palme so much. This Suite includes a 40 square mt. terrace, embellished by a fragrant pergola of bougainvillea and by the view of the sea and its horizon. In the room, you’ll enjoy the original portrait of Hemingway by Mario Berrino, as well as a feather from Pedrito, the parrot Hemingway left in custody to the artist. As a guest, you’ll have a vintage chessboard, a writing desk and a white canvas for your pleasure to play, write or paint, inspired by the unique atmosphere of the place.  A total discovery is also the new 3-rooms Presidenti[Art] Suite, ideal for a group vacation in total privacy. The wide living room area has been designed to share convivial moments as well as the panoramic terrace. The view from the terrace embraces the promenade bringing you from Alassio to Laigueglia.
